Community
Amirali was part of the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri community, a group of people who had two attributes in common. One, that they believed in the twelve infallible leaders who succeeded the Prophet to carry on his message. Second, that they were migrants from the East African and Indian subcontinent. Through going to mosque on a regular basis, he made many acquaintances. If you knew Amirali through the community, please leave your tribute here.

Business Man
When we started to do business in 2001, I found much more than a client, Mr Karim was a good friend always honest and correct in business.
At a time such as this, words cannot express our feelings. I can say that death is not the end, it’s a new beginning for those we have lost.
I would like to express my condolences to the family.

Teacher, Storyteller, Character Builder
My Late father, Marhoom Hassan A. M. Jaffer, who passed away a few weeks after Marhoom Amirali G. Karim, often spoke to me about him as a deeply dedicated person with a professional approach to the management of the charity he founded, the Lady Fatimah Trust. He often mentioned to me that local organizations in East Africa should learn from him how to manage financially sound charitable organizations on a professional footing, constantly evaluating and learning new lessons to improve their programs.
Recently, speaking to his son Mukhtar, my personal memories flooded back as I remember him - Amirbhai, my madrassa teacher in Mombasa in the 1960s. A few years older than me, he started teaching at the local madrassa at a young age. Coming from an illustrious family with a long tradition of community service, signing up to teach at the Madrassa must have come to him naturally.
My fond memories of him are particularly entrenched in his Islamic history (or Hadith) lessons that he imparted with a flourish. Ever smiling, soft spoken and a mesmerizing story teller. A 40 minute class of history lessons was not sufficient for us 10-12 year olds. We followed him after class and pumped for more.
„Mulla, another hadith“, we pressed. I was notorious for that and he nicknamed me ‚Mulla Hadith’.
His stories and interpretation of the life of Prophet Muhammad (saww) and his family have stayed with with us as mementos of good character, long after we left madrassa. He had a phenomenal memory for these life’s lessons and he pronounced them with a flourish, raising and lowering his voice, laying stress here, smiling there and staring intently to make unspoken punch line effect.
My abiding memories of Marhoom Amirbhai are those of a wonderful storyteller of my childhood who played a role in character building for a generation of pupils under his care.
May Allah (swt), in His infinite mercy, raise Marhoom Amirbhai’s station and may He increase the impact of his life’s work that culminated in the charitable efforts of the Lady Fatimah Trust.
A man with such great vision
Amir Bha was a great visionary.
His love for charitable projects and assisting those in need knew no bounds.
I will always remember speaking to him on the telephone on a number of occasions, between 2000-2004, a few years after we moved to North London.
He spoke with great enthusiasm and never tired in going through the details of current LFT projects. He was, without a doubt, both an inspiration to many to participate in giving to numerous worthwhile causes.
He would be so proud to acknowledge the energy with which his son, Mukhtar Karim, is continuing his amazing work.
May Allah rest his soul in peace. 🙏🌷
