Charity
The standout feature of Amirali’s life was his work in regards to charity. Whilst many people know him fondly for the work he did in setting up and leading The Lady Fatemah Trust, his altruism extends back to Mombasa where he was actively working in the Kenya Red Cross as their treasurer. Helping others was always a paramount priority for Amirali as he realised that we make a living by what we get and we make a life by what we give. If you knew him for his charity work, please write a tribute here.
The best is who benefits others the most
Great men are measured by the number of souls they touch, and lives they elevate and hopes they advance. As prophet Mohammed had said the best among people is the one who benefits others the most. No doubt Amirali Karim has earned this title deservingly, God bless his soul.

The world has lost a great philanthropist
I had the honour to have met this great philanthropist, although sadly only once, when I was left so emotionally moved that an individual could do so much good with a passion and dedication for the poor and desperate all over this troubled world of ours Brother Karim will be sorely missed by all of us at the Graham Layton Trust (GLT) for his dedication and passion towards helping those less fortunate. His generosity helped bring light, hope, dignity and livelihoods back into the lives of the most desperately poor in Pakistan. GLT relied heavily on the generous contributions from LFT over the years which have allowed us to carry on treating curable blindness in the poorest areas of Pakistan. Without the valued support of LFT, we would not have come so far, having just treated our 37th millionth patient. We are therefore truly indebted to Brother Karim for his hard work and selfless mission to help those in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and may Allah rest his soul in peace- Aameen.

He inspired me to continue.............
I met him 5 years ago when i had just started being involved in charity work and I was amazed to hear about his own commitment to LFT. He inspired me to continue with my work and I thank him for that. He was a super role model. As charity workers, we can carry on not just the love he had for charity, but the spirit in which he did it.

Impeccably passionate and sincere charitable soul
Salaams Inna lillahi wainna ilayhi rajiun. Marhum Amirbhai was one of the greatest charitable, sincere, honest, compassionate, empathetic and sympathetic soul I have met in my lifetime. He was ever ready to help the needy and- widowed, sick, impoverished and underprivileged regardless of colour creed ,religion or region. I was honoured to be appointed as an Auditor for Lady Fatema (A. S) charitable Trust and must mention that he was always most professional and accountable for everything he dealt with for all charitable activities. He was a soul filled with integrity and honesty. May Allah swt reward the blessed soul with the highest station in the heavens and to grant us the Taufeeq to do good sincerely and passionately InshaAllah. A dedicated man Indeed
It was a pleasure to meet someone who shared the same passion i had for empowering the widows, and we worked together for a while in a project in this field. He was a dedicated man and will never be forgotten and he will be in our fondest memories forever.

The best person is the one who benefits all human beings
Mr. Karim's relationship with Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children in Gaza was more than that of a donor. Brother Karim was genuinely committed to supporting the less needy persons of Society and made every effort to make a difference in their lives. The more we got to know him the more our respect and admiration grew for this noble and just person. Brother Karim has left a very large gap, we miss his daily quotes which reflected his true passion and religious commitments. An inspiration for us all
My first memory of Amirali uncle was when I was only about 10 years old, and he invited me to a meeting of LFT board members and trustees at his house - in a discussion about distributing Eid gifts to needy children, he turned to me and asked my opinion. I still remember a whole room full of adults turning to look at me! This was typical of Amirali uncle and his desire to encourage people to get involved. I was young and there wasn't much I could do, but he asked me to help by giving me small tasks to do. He asked me to help writing up captions for photos to be uploaded to the LFT website - I used to do this quite proudly. Only later did I realise that it would've actually been easier for him to just do it himself! but for the sake of getting an eager youngster involved in charitable work, he multiplied his own already heavy workload. Whenever we met over the years, conversation would inevitably drift to the latest projects he was working on, and I was always impressed by his incredible grasp of the detail and his immense passion for the work he had been doing for so long. Yet he always made time to pass on advice, graciously hosting us at his house. He always responded to emails personally, taking time to clarify and explain even the most minor detail, which is extraordinary considering the amount of things he was working on. In recent years I have been in London less, and I tried to make a point of meeting Amirali uncle whenever I was home for a longer period. I always felt I left his company having gained something, be it knowledge or simply inspiration from his enthusiasm to do whatever he could to improve the lot of the needy. I feel he epitomised the saying of Imam Ali (as): 'Live amongst people in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you are alive they crave for your company'. My sincerest condolences to his family, Al-Fateha for Marhum, Shaahid

Remembering a Humanitarian Hero
Striving to serve humanity in all the dimensions of our lives is not a small task and for Amirali Karim, it was a passion with a fully dedicated sacrifice of time, self, and money. Amirali Karim, a dedicated man whose name has been associated with generosity and devotion in helping others and in doing his share of the work for a better life, a better world. As the founder and trustee of the Lady Fatemah Charitable Trust, Amirali Karim’s efforts contributed to the improvement of the quality of life of thousands of disadvantaged children, women and men in the long-suffering Gaza Strip. For more than 10 years, Amirali Karim was committed to support the education of 300 profoundly and severely deaf children from kindergarten to middle school on an annual basis. He provided the students enrolled in the Atfaluna School for Deaf Children in Gaza, who were not only deaf but also very poor, with their needs to ensure that they are given an equal access to education. He provided the deaf children with school basic needs such as school uniforms, stationery supplies, and hygiene materials; saved deaf children who were threatened of being unable to attend school regularly due to failure to pay transportation fees and ensured safe transportation for them; supported the provision of a daily hot meal for each child at the time when many children arrived at school with only a piece of bread in their schoolbags. He initiated the LFT higher education program in Palestine which provides equal access to higher education to Palestinian students from low-income families and helps them meet their education needs and achieve their full potential. The LFT students and graduates in the Gaza Strip are determined to fulfill their commitments to Amirali Karim’s humanitarian mission by using education to fight poverty and support the less privileged individuals in their communities during and after graduation. He supported hundreds of the most marginalized and needy women and men in the Gaza Strip to provide for their own needs and those of their families by building their employability skills and creating job opportunities for them. He supported the installation of deep water well pump along with a water desalination plant that guaranteed the provision of sustainable, clean, and healthy water for hundreds of children and their families and protected them from risks emerging from polluted water diseases that can be fatal. This support was of high value as it saved the lives of thousands of children and families. Following 2012 war on Gaza, Amirali Karim showed compassion and deep concern about the children of Gaza who were exposed to life threatening incidents and experienced great feelings of helplessness, confusion, and untold fear, so he supported the implementation of a comprehensive post-trauma intervention with non-formal activities including fun activities like dance, painting, clowns, jump slides etc., offered gifts for the children, and funded day trips to fun parks. Two years later and as a result of another brutal military operation and devastating assault on the Gaza Strip and its people, hundreds of thousands of people fled their homes and were in desperate need of food, water, shelter and medical care. Access to water and sanitation services was very limited in the shelters and other damaged houses in rural and marginalized areas throughout the Gaza Strip where the displaced people faced hardship and great suffering. During those difficult times in Gaza, Amirali Karim through the Lady Fatemah Trust supported a timely provision of drinking water and water supply for daily use to families staying in shelters and damaged houses. Amirali Karim was a humble and true humanitarian hero who dedicated his life to bettering the lives of others around the world in a daily basis at the most difficult times in their lives. He will always be remembered for his deep concern and infinite compassion for humankind.
